| Council gets update on Wild Horse Canyon hotel progress
Although little physical work has been done to the future home of the Hampton Inn in Wild Horse Canyon, commercial developer David Delach asserts that a lot of work has been done “behind the scenes" to get the project moving.“It's fitting that it's Easter, because we're breathing new life into this canyon," Delach told Green River city officials last night at a Council workshop.Aiming for a start on the actual construction in mid-May, Delach said he and his investors hope to have the hotel open by March 2008.Much of the work completed behind the scenes involves discussions between the city's attorney, Ford Bussart and Delach's attorney in order to create agreements between the developer and the city. .
'Wedding' overcomes its mawkish themes
"After the Wedding" ostensibly follows an orphanage director whose attempt to wring funding out of a millionaire collapses under the weight of personal demons. Audiences will be far more fascinated by the man holding the purse strings. The Danish feature, an Oscar nominee for best foreign language film, offers a dynamic portrait of power in the person of Rolf Lassgard's mogul. The actor's achievement in making the millionaire so layered may require repeat viewings to absorb it all. The rest of the film is nearly as nourishing. Jacob ("Casino Royale's" memorable villain Mads Mikkelsen) is a Dane running an orphanage in a blighted Indian neighborhood. A Danish millionaire named Jorgen (Mr. Lassgard) offers to give the orphanage some much needed cash, but only if Jacob will visit Jorgen personally in Copenhagen.

Commuters find convenience, companionship aboard the Sounder
By the time you read this, Sandy Moening will have worked her last day as a credit-inquiry specialist for Bank of America in Seattle. Her position was outsourced, sending Moening, 60, into retirement. But it's the commute that Moening is going to miss the most. Really. Moening's return to Kent on the 5:40 p.m. Sounder has taken 25 minutes, but to her, it's been happy hour. On one of her last commuting trips, she settles into her usual window seat in the second-to-last car, filled with anticipation. She knows exactly who will fill the adjacent seats. Awaiting their arrival is "the most fun I have every day." It was no joy ride, however, when Moening took the 158 bus to work from her home on East Hill. She had to get up an hour earlier.
